Description
The Westinghouse Science awards are something like Nobel prizes for teenagers; they recognize outstanding work in science by high-school students. In 1988, one New York City public school had eleven Westinghouse semifinalists; every one of them was of Asian background. Was it a fluke, as the principal said? Or do Asians bring something to the study of science which the rest of us had better learn to emulate? In this program with Bill Moyers, Physics Nobelist Dr. Chen Ning Yang discusses how the East and West approach scientific study and the understanding of scientific phenomena. (30 minutes)
