Produced by the U.S. Army, this excellently written documentary for the Big Picture series explores Army leadership since the creation of the National Security Act in 1947. Focusing on the lives of the four men who have held down the role of "top soldier"-the very demanding job of Army Chief of Staff-this film showcases these heroic men and their contributions to the Army. With footage provided by the National Archives and Records Administration, Top Soldier highlights the lives of General J. Lawton Collins, General Matthew B. Ridgway, General Maxwell D. Taylor, and General Lyman L. Lemnitzer.
